BBVA Chile has received the “Juntos Por un Chile Sin Pobreza” seal of approval, a government award that recognizes the Group’s commitment to eradicating poverty in that country through the programs “Niños Adelante” and “Emprendedores Sociales”.
The award was remitted by the Social Development Ministers to Ignacio Lacasta, president of BBVA Chile, who said “this is recognition of BBVA’s commitment to Chile’s development, especially with the more vulnerable sectors, creating the conditions that will allow them to have a better future”.
The director of the social fund of the Social Development Ministry, Claudio Storm, stated that “the Niños Adelante and Emprendedores Sociales 20111 programs are very valuable, because they bring together various social actors—the government, private parties, and foundations—around a very noble objective. The fact that these types of projects are created is a reflection of the important role that both the public and private world play to offer new opportunities to the more vulnerable sectors.
The distinguished programs are Niños Adelante, an initiative of the BBVA Group with Hogar de Cristo that aims to raise the quality of education for pre-school children in a situation of poverty. Over 12,000 children have already benefitted. This is in addition to Emprendedores Sociales 20111, which delivers to children in a vulnerable position opportunities to innovate and construct sustainable projects, transforming them into agents of change in their social and family environment.
