The ‘Euro solidario’ initiative that BBVA launched in 2006 as part of its Corporate Responsibility policy will help to prevent the social exclusion of adolescents in Spain from this year. So far, the initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Entreculturas Foundation, supported educational projects in Latin America. Nearly 4,000 BBVA employees in Spain are already collaborating with this project.

Compass «For Your Cause», one of BBVA Compass’ Retail products, has been well received by customers and generating much-needed income for non-profits and charities – a boon now that overall charitable giving is down because of the economy.
BBVA will allocate 1.8 million euros to support 189 charitable projects of the more than 1,800 nominated by its employees throughout Spain. ‘Territorios solidarios’ (Solidarity Territories) is an initiative launched by the Corporate Responsibility area in Spain to bring its activity closer to society, by involving its employees in allocating resources.
BBVA customers, employees and shareholders have raised more than 1.6 million euros through ‘Tu solidaridad vale el doble’ (Your solidarity is worth twice as much), a social campaign that ended on 28th january and was launched last december by BBVA together with Cáritas, the Spanish Red Cross and the Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos. This amount, donated through the BBVA Suma on-line platform and BBVA branches, will be matched by the financial institution to collect over 3.3 million euros and is aimed at the most underprivileged families in Spain. Additionally, BBVA provided an initial investment of 1.5 million euros to this campaign.
