The BBVA Foundation Biodiversity Conservation Awards were presented yesterday in Madrid at an event presided by Francisco González. This year’s edition singled out two initiatives that achieve tangible, measurable and enduring improvements in their respective spheres, and show the possibility of following a model of development that safeguards nature instead of destroying it.
In its 8th Biodiversity Conservation Awards, which recognize organizations and communicators that contribute to protecting the natural heritage of Spain and Latin America, the BBVA Foundation recognizes wetland restoration in Spain, whale conservation in Latin America and photojournalism focused on conservation challenges.

The BBVA Group has joined the group of companies participating in “Earth Hour”, an initiative involving voluntarily switching off the lights which has been promoted by WWF, one of the leading independent conservation organizations. This campaign, which will start on March 23 at 8:30 pm, has a twofold goal: on the one hand, to contribute to reduce CO2 emissions worldwide and, on the other hand, to promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly life model.
