BBVA is firmly committed to education as leverage for social inclusion. In South America and Mexico the Niños Adelante (Forward, children) program of scholarships for social integration is noteworthy. The aim of this program is to contribute to the social integration of children from underprivileged families in Latin America through support for primary and secondary education. In addition, since 1993 BBVA has been organizing and sponsoring the Ruta Quetzal BBVA, which is an initiative declared to be of cultural interest by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). In Spain, it sponsors the Teacher Action Prize, together with the Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción (Foundation of Aid against Drug Addiction or FAD) and UNESCO, in order to disseminate the relevant experience and educational projects that promote and develop teachers in educational centers around the country.
This agreement opens up a line of educational loans endowed with 10 million euros, allowing university students at UCO to finance the total cost of their tuition through installments. The main objective is to support access to university education for all students who so desire, regardless of their financial resources.
The BBVA Foundation and the Carolina Foundation have opened the call for 22 specialization scholarships to train Latin American graduates in Medicine and the Environment in Spain. The deadline for applications is March 13, 2014. It is a prime requirement, among others, to be nationals of any country of the Iberoamerican Community of Nations, except Spain.
Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo presented the 2014 expedition entitled “Searching for the Sources of the Amazon. The Mystery of the Condor’s Dance”. Throughout June and July 2014, Ruta BBVA will be visiting southern Peru and Spain.

BBVA Bancomer Foundation and the Monterrey Institute of Technology, Campus Puebla, presented the digital edition of “Social Synapsis: Scientific Journal on Sustainability”, a twice-yearly journal uses awareness-raising articles to stimulate the development of entrepreneurship and the creation of public policies that encourage a reduction in poverty.
For the 55th edition of the National Association of Advertisers (ANDA) awards, the BBVA Foundation’s «Programa Papagayo» received the ANDA Award.
The awards ceremony for the 6th Premios Educación y Libertad (Education and Liberty Awards) was held on Friday November 8, organized by the Fundación Europea Educación y Libertad.
