BBVA named Best Finance House North America for renewable energy in 2011

Environmental Finance Magazine has named BBVA Best Finance House, North America for Renewable Energy in 2011. This award is a result of one of the most closely watched polls across the carbon, renewable energy, weather risk and US emissions markets. Over 1000 votes were received from the magazine’s readers and others active in environmental trading and finance.

This award, bestowed upon BBVA by its peers, is a reflection on our commitment to fighting climate change. Renewable energy is a key part in reducing CO2 emissions and to this end in 2011 BBVA financed more renewable energy projects globally than in any other sector. This commitment to renewable energy together with our Global Eco-efficiency plan is just one of the many ways that BBVA is integrating sustainability into our strategy.

At BBVA we are aware that finding solutions to climate change requires action from governments, business, and citizens. We are proud to be doing our part.

Congratulations to everyone on the Global Project Finance team and to everyone that has helped BBVA become a leader in fighting climate change.
